Field Production Position (Clyde River Farm and Forest)

Clyde River Farm and Forest is an organic farm operation with vegetables and berries, Christmas Trees, a small maple syrup operation, square baled hay production, and a sawmill producing lumber and clapboards.

Current farm operations include a roadside farm stand, 40 CSA members, with some wholesale produce marketed to local retailers and restaurants.

The owners and management team are seeking an individual or couple to help expand and improve farm enterprises while maintaining the highest level of land stewardship on our Northeast Kingdom Farm in East Charleston, Vermont. Clyde River Farms collaborates with many partners in the region including Sterling College, The Northwoods Stewardship Center, Siskin Ecological Adventures and the Orleans and Essex Conservation Districts.



Collaborate with team in the planning, implementation, and execution of:

    • Crop planning

    • Propagation

    • Transplanting

    • Crop maintenance (including cultivation, mulching, pruning, and pest and disease management)

    • Harvesting and distribution

    • Expansion of farm infrastructure

 Manage interns and volunteers as needed

Insure high standards of quality in food production


  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Comfort working both independently and with a team; team management skills a plus

  • 2+ years of farm experience

  • Having independent transportation is required, as this is a very rural area and some fields are a distance from housing

  • Ability to adapt to change and work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, in northern Vermont

  • Dedication to land stewardship and a desire to develop the farm business

  • Entrepreneurial experience, positive attitude, and a sense of humor is a plus

Compensation Housing and food from the farm is provided; individual or couple will pay utilities. A bi-monthly cash salary is provided for 12 months based on level of experience.
