Marketing Coordinator (Skinny Pancake)

The Skinny Pancake has embarked on an ambitious marketing initiative and we’re looking for the right person to help us work towards our vision. Our non-traditional approach focuses on experiential marketing, ‘goodwill’ marketing, community involvement, and philanthropy, earned media, creating genuine fun everywhere we go, and total dedication to the local food movement. We’re seeking a Marketing Coordinator to help us increase the quality of our marketing output, organize our many different communication strategies, contribute to our brand’s visual appeal, help improve efficiency for the rest of our marketing team, and directly contribute to important events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our local food mission by:

    • Keeping an eye on community events and a broad local network to maintain SP as a thread in the fabric of the community

    • Participating in and helping to produce events in our locations and around the communities in which we do business

    • Oversight of our aesthetic presence at the event

    • Taking orders, spinning crepes, and otherwise interacting with guests at off-site events

  • Streamlining and assisting in the execution of marketing efforts spearheaded by the Director of Marketing and Music Manager for all Skinny Pancake locations, Love Local Catering, and the Chubby Muffin

  • Maintaining and managing a marketing calendar which accounts for all campaigns, marketing meetings, blogging schedule, and advertising deliverables

  • Light graphic design work such as posters, menus, and other promotional pieces

  • Coordinating, printing and distributing material to all our locations and other outlets in a timely and consistent fashion

  • Assisting in setting up promotional displays in our outlets with a focus on clean, on brand aesthetics (merch, one-off promos, signage, etc)

  • Social media content editing and organizing and posting (facebook, twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, HootSuite etc)

  • Assisting with e-mail marketing

  • Maintaining an accurate, effective and positive web presence by monitoring reviews, digital press, and ensuring published menus across the web are current

  • Seeking out and exploring new marketing strategies in coordination with Director of Marketing

  • “Grounds Crew” work distributing promotional materials across towns - or assigning the work when appropriate

  • Maintaining our e-commerce site and fulfilling orders

  • Helping maintain proper accounting of marketing budget

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Continue to establish the Skinny Pancake as an iconic Vermont brand with a marketing plan and execution worthy of a business school case study

  • Increase y-o-y sales at all locations

  • Help inspire the rest of the Skinny Pancake organization

  • Help streamline and improve marketing execution by maintaining systems, and through continuous communication with operations and other marketing staff.

  • Ensure no occasions occur when any operation lacks adequate marketing materials to promote themselves or reflect well on the SP brand


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Food service or food systems background and interest/involvement in the local food movement preferred

  • Strong teamwork skills combined with an independent work ethic

  • Willingness to work an unusual schedule around important events and deadlines

  • An inclination toward self-directed work combined with a willingness to respond to time-sensitive requests

  • Fluency in modern social media platforms

  • Strong organizational and task management skills

  • Experience and comfort with Adobe suite preferred

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

This job comes with an occasionally nontraditional schedule. On top of traditional marketing office work, this position involves helping to execute and produce events, interacting with our valued guests, and even spinning crepes.  Weekend, evening, and holiday work may happen, so you will benefit from a flexible schedule in exchange. This position has parts both creative and administrative. While some work has to be done at certain times, the creative process is not always limited to 9-5.
