Description

The Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Water Quality Division is looking to fill a new position of Assistant Director. Ideal candidates will be strategic thinkers with strong leadership, project management and communication skills.  Experience working in program and policy development, accountability and management are necessary. Proven skills in operations management are key to ensuring that staff and partners supporting the program areas are well aligned.  Candidates should have a strong understanding of the state and federal statutory and rule-making processes and experience working across jurisdictions to produce seamless programs and interpret, create or revise rules.

The work associated with this position will be dynamic, fast paced and complex.  Accountability towards reductions in agricultural water quality non-point source pollution is a high priority for Vermont and is a primary responsibility of this position.  The Assistant Director will supervise several teams within the Division and must work with other teams in the Agency and the Division to ensure consistency in the delivery of services.

Duties of the Water Quality Assistant Director will include:

  • Overseeing Section Chiefs in the Water Quality Division
  • Program development, policy development, and developing systems of accountability
  • Reviewing rules and regulations pertinent to Water Quality
  • Overseeing technical, financial, and regulatory programs.
  • Operations management
