Dairy Farm Help (von Trapp Farmstead)

Organization von Trapp Farmstead
Location 251 Common Road
Waitsfield, VT 05673

von Trapp Farmstead is a family run organic-regenerative dairy in Waitsfield Vermont.  The dairy has been in our family since 1959.  In 2009 we started making cheese as a way to keep the farm in the family and create a more sustainable business.  We believe strongly in organic-regenerative practices and keeping Vermont a working landscape. We work hard to take great care of the land and animals so that our cows produce the best milk so we can make delicious cheese!  In an effort to complete another waste stream loop and add the most value, we started raising whey fed pigs that happily consume whey, the byproduct of cheese making.  They are also fed spent grain from our neighbor brewer Lawson's Finest Liquids, and organic day old bread that would otherwise be composted. We turn our byproduct and our neighbors byproducts into delicious whey fed pork salami to accompany our fine line of cheeses!
