New Tractor Education Project

Thanks to funding and support from Northeast SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education) Program, the UVM Extension New Farmer Project is developing a farm mechanization and tractor education train-the-trainer program.

Geared for agricultural educators, farmers, and farm service providers, this multi-session, free professional development program will prepare and support participants to deliver tractor education to beginning farmers, farm workers and apprentices throughout Vermont and the Northeast. Topics will include basic use and operation, basic maintenance and farm mechanization strategies. Registration (via an application process) will open in November, and sessions will start in early 2014. In 2015, the project will support people who have completed the training to deliver workshops with new and aspiring farmers.

Please help get the word out about this exciting new program. Those interested in receiving registration materials, or who would like to be involved in project planning or implementation should contact Kristen Mullins at kristen.mullins@uvm.edu or 802-656-2034.
