Agriculture Land Use Survey
The Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets and the Department of Housing and Community Development need input on your opinions about state and local regulations that affect farms and value added farm enterprises. We would appreciate 5-10 minutes of your time to complete a short survey that will inform policy changes and legislative recommendations to support local agricultural operations and the diversification of farms. On-Farm Slaughter Webinar
UVM Extension will be hosting a webinar for producers of beef, pigs, sheep and goats to discuss opportunities for on-farm slaughter. Randy Quenneville, Meat Programs Chief with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, will present details on current legislation and exemptions and how producers interested in on-farm slaughter should move forward. The webinar will feature a presentation followed by questions and answers. The webinar will be recorded. Bobolink Project is Win-Win for Farmers and Wildlife
The Bobolink Project uses community contributions to pay farmers to adapt their haying practices to protect nesting habitats of grassland birds. The Working Lands Enterprise Board announces this year’s grant recipients from its “Enterprise Investment” area awarding just under $300,000 of $1.2 million available to 19 grantees in 11 counties of the state representing the agriculture, forestry and forest products sectors, (3 forestry projects and 16 agriculture projects), leveraging over $350,000 in matching funds.
