On Sunday, September 15 in Shoreham, VT cyclists have the option to ride a 10-mile or a 30-mile loop on the roads around Shoreham and Orwell, stopping and tasting at farms along the way. Tour de Farm is the must-do Fall event to celebrate local food. Sponsored by ACORN and the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition, in only six years it has become a premiere Vermont local food event.
Last year, 580 riders participated in the Champlain Valley’s favorite bike and tasting tour of the farms of Shoreham and Orwell. They rode 3 different routes which featured 15 participating farms, tasted the harvest and took in the rural beauty of southern Addison County. This year's Tour features new farms, a slightly different route and a brand new 2-mile "Tricycle Route" for walking or biking with young children. This family friendly event takes place during peak apple and fall foliage- bring your friends and family out to the rolling countryside to taste the Bounty of Addison County!
The Tour de Farms begins and ends at the Shoreham Green, where the Shoreham AppleFest celebrates local food producers with booths, tastings, crafts and music. Bring a cooler and a little extra cash for Shoreham's annual celebration of everything apple! All of your favorite farmers from the Tour will be back at the Shoreham Green selling the products you just fell in love with, along with goods from many other local artisans. Great music, kids' activities, an apple pie contest and a delicious fundraiser for the Platt Memorial Library await you after your ride. Join us for a fun-filled day of outstanding flavors at the peak of the fall season!
