Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society
Join the Addison County Hunger Council for a discussion about the importance of school meals for addressing childhood hunger in Addison County. The meeting will be held at the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society in Middlebury on September 16th at 4:00pm.
The Addison County Hunger Council is a council of community leaders and those working “in the trenches” on hunger each day, that gathers four times a year to share information, learn about hunger issues, identify cost savings, economies of scale, or partnering opportunities. ACORN members serve on the council and will be sharing updates on the USDA Farm to School grant.
Hunger Free Vermont, feels that federal nutrition programs are the best way to ensure that children have access to nutritious snacks and meals where they learn, play, and socialize. Because of this belief, the September Hunger Council meeting is devoted to discussing the importance of school meals and how the council and the community can support schools in increasing enrollment in school meals, reaching more families to ensure that they are turning in their school meal applications, and spreading the word about the new bill passed which ensures that all low-income children have access to meals in school at no cost to their family. Join us in our work sharing insights and learn directly from foodservice Addison County's mission to decrease childhood hunger.
