3SquaresVT Challenge Nov. 17-23
Can you eat well on the average 3SquaresVT benefit of $30 per week?
The purpose of the 3SquaresChallenge is to draw attention to the experience of living on a strict food budget and to build awareness of the importance of 3SquaresVT (called SNAP nationally).
Did you know?
1 in 7 Vermonters struggling with hunger and food insecurity?
3SquaresVT makes a difference in the lives of nearly 100,000 Vermonters?
Sometimes, the benefits are too low to allow households to purchase nutritious food on a consistent basis?
Congress is considering major cuts to the program in the Farm Bill which would mean thousands of Vermonters would lose their benefits?
Why take the 3SquaresVT Challenge?
The 3SquaresVT Challenge seeks to highlight what it is like to eat on the average 3SquaresVT benefit—approximately $1.40 per meal for a single person. Help us bring awareness to the issue of hunger and the struggles that families face when living on fixed or low incomes.
Join us and take the 3SquaresVT Challenge by completing the form at http://www.vtfoodbank.org/Events/3SquaresVTChallenge.aspx
The purpose of the Challenge is not to emulate the reality of food insecurity for Vermonters, many of whom may rely on a variety of programs and resources to meet the needs of their families, but to instead draw attention to the experience of living on a strict food budget allotment and how that may or may not change your daily life both physically and psychologically as a participant.
