Now in its 16th year, the Pumpkin Festival offers on-farm enjoyment for the entire family, with horse-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin picking, live music, kids’ activities, storytelling, birds of prey, cider pressing, and local food concessions.
Kids and families will want to visit the “Circle of Cedars” Enchanted Forest—where entertainment includes master storytellers Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder of Montpelier, VT who present traditional folktales at 10-30-11:00 & 11:15-11:45, and the “one-man troubadour” Stephen Coronella of Putney VT who uses a variety of instruments to sing songs and tell stories from 12:30-1:15 & 1:45-2:30.
On the main stage, hear acoustic folk music by the Upper Valley’s Rose Hip Jam from 10:15-12:45, and the high-energy rock & roll band Wyld Nightz Band from southern VT from 1:00-3:00.
In addition to horse-drawn wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and cider pressing throughout the day, children will also love the live birds of prey brought by the VT Institute of Natural Science, plus the haybale climb, worm colony exploration, and face painting.
Be sure to arrive hungry! The food concessions, open from 11-3, feature farm-fresh organic soups, salads, grilled local sausages, veggie burgers, and seasonal desserts, NOFA-VT’s wood-fired artisan pizza and Griddle and Groovy’s gourmet grilled cheese and other seasonal eats. The Farmstand and coffee shop will be open until 5.
A suggested donation of $10-15 per car includes parking in designated fields and free admission to all events. Carpooling is encouraged. No pets please. Rain or shine.
