About the speaker:

 

John Sayles has been the CEO at the Vermont Foodbank since March of 2009, after serving ten years in leadership positions at the Agency of Natural Resources and the Department of Public Service. He moved to Vermont in 1999, and lives in Montpelier with his wife and son.

 

John is a member of the Feeding America Policy Engagement and Advocacy Committee which develops national policy direction for more than 200 food banks nationwide.  He was presented the 2012 Dick Goebel Public Service Award by Feeding America for contributions in public policy development. John is also a member of the Vermont Governor's Pathways from Poverty Council.

 

Prior to coming to Vermont, John practiced law in Maryland, both in private and government practice. He is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and Frostburg State University.
