Create a Crock for Fermentation

Bring a new level of craft to your kitchen by making your own clay crock pot. A time honored cooking vessel used for making sauerkraut, pickles and other fermentation recipes. In this workshop we will use the slab and coil methods to make our own crock pots. We will be carving, pressing, piercing and stamping the clay with local found materials.  No experience is necessary…just the desire to get your hands in clay and create.

Instructor: Susan Raber Bray
Susan Raber Bray, born in New York and living in Vermont since the early 70’s, works in several media, including clay, oils, and organic materials. Her work is shown both nationally and internationally. In recent years Susan has held clay workshops in France, England, and Italy. As a visiting artist sponsored by the Vermont Council On The Arts (since 1989) she has taught in numerous Vermont public schools and is currently teaching at the University of Vermont Environment Program, the Community College of Vermont.  She has taught at St. Michael’s College, Champlain College, Rhode Island School of Design and her own studio school, Springhouse arts in Charlotte.

Please note this course is NOT at Shelburne Farms.  You will receive the address to the studio upon registration.
