1 Ethan Allen Homestead
The Vermont Community Garden Network will host a community “Garden Harvest Party” at the Winooski Valley Park District’s Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The potluck style Garden Harvest Party is a celebration of the harvest season with gardeners, friends, and community members. There will be free veggie burgers and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, kids’ activities, bike smoothies, yard games, as well as garden and trail tours at 3:15 and 4pm.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite garden side dish to share or a donation of $5.
Winooski Valley Park District’s Ethan Allen Homestead is one of Burlington’s community garden hubs. The space includes two of the city’s community gardens, VCGN’s Community Teaching Garden, the Visiting Nurse Association’s Family Room Garden, and the New Farms for New Americans Community Garden. People of all ages and backgrounds grow food and learn together in this beautiful setting just minutes from Burlington’s North End.
The Garden Harvest Party is presented by the Vermont Community Garden Network in partnership with Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront/Burlington Area Community Gardens, Winooski Valley Park District, VNA Family Room, New Farms for New Americans, Grow Team O.N.E. and City Market.
Since 2001, the Vermont Community Garden Network has worked with community and school groups all over the state to start, sustain and grow gardens, building strong local food systems and vibrant educational sites. We envision a vibrant local food system where Vermonters of all ages experience the benefits of community, school, and neighborhood gardening and become healthier through improved diets, exercise, and positive social interactions.
