We wanted to invite you to attend our first UVM Extension Northwest Crops & Soils meeting for 2015 - our annual Crop, Soil & Dairy Meeting - on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 10am to 4:30pm at the American Legion Hall in St. Albans, Vermont.
Join us to learn about the agronomic and economic benefits of tile drainage in the northeast. Speakers include Larry Brown, an agricultural engineer with Ohio State University; Steve Mahoney, who assists farmers with tile drainage layout; Matt Ruark, a soil scientist from University of Wisconsin; Eric Young of Miner Institute who has been investigating nutrient losses in subsurface drainage; and Kip Potter and Jim Eikenberry from NRCS.
Topics include an introduction to drainage design and principles, maintaining tile drainage systems, what to know before you install a tile system, managing tile drained fields to prevent nutrient losses, and treatment practices for tile drainage systems and success stories.
