In her new book Lentil Underground, Liz Carlisle, a protégé of Michael Pollan, tells the remarkable story of an unheralded group of Montana farmers who have defied corporate agriculture by launching a unique sustainable food movement. Montana farmer David Oien, co-founder of Timeless Seeds, is one of those farmers.
Liz Carlisle is a fellow at the Center for Diversified Farming Systems at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography, also from Berkeley, and a B.A. from Harvard University.
David Oien is a lentil farmer from central Montana and co-founder of Timeless Seeds, producer of heirloom organic lentils and specialty grains.
