Livestock Wellbeing & Biodiversity Workshop

Choiniere Family Farm, 2465 Gore Rd
Highgate Ctr., VT

Come meet the UVM research team from Extension Center for Sustainable Ag., Animal Science, and the Rubenstein School for the Environment and Natural Resources to explore the connections between soil biodiversity, forages, animal and human health that can mean a more resilient approach to dairy and farming.

We'll discuss a holistic approach to livestock production, suggest tools for grass farmers to monitor grazing behavior and forage utilization in real time, and look at the impact of grazing summer annuals on milk production, composition and fatty acid profile as well as rumen function.  (This event will follow the Generation Organic event the Choinieres are hosting that day, and all attending farmers are warmly welcomed to stay and learn more.)

This is a free event.  Please register by November 4 here.  Contact Juan Alvez at jalvez@uvm.edu with any questions or for more information.

To request a disability-related accommodation to participate in this program, please contact Cheryl Herrick at 802-656-5459 by October 24 so we may assist you.
