Rural Vermont Hosts Small Farm Advocacy Day at the Statehouse

115 State Street
Montpelier, VT

Rural Vermont's Small Farm Advocacy Days:

Wednesday, February 24th
Wednesday, March 30th
TBD date in late April
the Vermont Statehouse, MONTPELIER
FREE and open to the public

Let's put a face on the "small farmer" and highlight the crucial role they are playing in the future of Vermont agriculture! Join us and introduce your farms to legislators and policy makers.  Share your story of the practices and values that guide your farming work and support water quality and your community.

On Small Farm Advocacy Days, Rural Vermont will offer a briefing on issues and legislation affecting small farms and the people who support them, "tricks of the trade" advocacy training, and opportunities for you to talk with your legislators. This will also be a great day to network with other farmers and learn more about how you can play a role in shaping public policy.

Hard to get away for a day? We are excited to announce that stipends will be available to farmers who want to participate and could use help covering the costs associated with being away from the farm and from home (i.e. transportation, relief farm help, childcare). Priority will be given to Rural Vermont members, but all farmers are encouraged to apply. Visit for more info and to apply, or email Andrew.

Thank you to the Vermont Community Foundation's Small & Inspiring grant for making these stipends possible!
