With growing season well underway, June is a season of beauty at Red Wagon Plants. Members and friends of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) are invited to experience that beauty firsthand at a Networking Get-Together on Thursday, June 23rd, from 5:30-7:30 PM, hosted at the Red Wagon Plants headquarters in Hinesburg.
“We are so excited to have Red Wagon Plants hosting this event for our members,” said Jane Campbell, VBSR’s executive director. “Picture this: it’s late June and everything at Red Wagon Plants is in full bloom. You’re talking, exchanging ideas on business practices, and networking with 125 other business leaders who care as much about employee well-being and environmental impact as they do about profit. That’s what’s happening on the 23rd, and we can’t think of a better place for these conversations.”
Campbell noted that Red Wagon’s mission to help increase the amount of food grown in Vermont’s backyards resonates with VBSR. “Our members believe in local food, in local agriculture. We worked hard to help pass Farm to Plate legislation and supported Working Lands legislation. This all works together to create a more vibrant local foods system and decreases our reliance on food from outside of Vermont.” Campbell also noted that in order to achieve their mission, Red Wagon Plants partners with more than 13 different organizations each year to donate plants, host events and fundraisers, and promote gardening education.
The June Networking Get-Together hosted by Red Wagon Plants is part of a statewide series dedicated to helping connect like-minded business leaders and share knowledge, tips, and techniques around the triple-bottom-line approach to business. The event is open to the public and is free for VBSR members and state officials; $10 for nonmembers. Red Wagon Plants will provide hors d’oeuvres and new VBSR member Stonecutter Spirits will operate a cash bar. Pre-registration is requested.
The event is sponsored by Champlain Community Services, City Market, LocalvoreToday.com, Merchants Bank, Merritt & Merritt, Office Squared, ReVisions LLC, and TruexCullins Architecture + Interior Design.
