2016 Grain Research Tour

146 Line Road
Alburgh, VT

Join NOFA-VT on a tour of over 1,000 plots of wheat, barley, oats, heirlooms, and dry beans. There are also small grain trials on evaluating biocontrol of head blight, organic weed control strategies, green manure under-seeding, and winter barley planting date and fertility studies. Not to mention the cool equipment we have, including our new band seeder. We will discuss common small grain and dry bean plant diseases and insect pests, as well as demonstrate scouting techniques. This workshop will be followed by snacks cooked in the NOFA-VT pizza oven by King Arthur Flour's baker showcasing local grains/wheat.

This workshop is in partnership with King Arthur Flour, the Northeast Grain Growers Association, and the UVM Extension Northwest Crops & Soils Program.
