FRSAN-NE Farm Financial Counseling Discussion: Losing the Contract

This discussion group for farm advisors will address specific production, financial and human issues that determine the options available to farmers facing a significant market disruption, including debt load, specificity of equipment, scale of markets and entrepreneurial experience. We will begin with a presentation to set the stage, and then conduct a discussion among experienced farm financial counselors regarding assisting farmers through the loss of contracts. Please note that this discussion will focus on tools and approaches that farm advisors, especially financial counselors, can use to assist individual farmers through this or similar situations and will not address policy responses or other issues.

Abenaki Land Link Harvest Festival 2021

Join us for a day all about celebrating the harvest season through food, performance, storytelling, and field walks. Learn more about the Abenaki Land Link Project, a collaboration between the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk - Abenaki Nation and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT). This project provides Indigenous seeds to gardeners, homesteaders, and commercial growers around Vermont to grow and harvest food for Abenaki citizens, while also providing an educational opportunity for the growers to examine the concepts of land access, food sovereignty, and Indigenous crop resilience.
