The Hardwick Area Food Pantry has a long history of providing a crucial hub of support for families and individuals in the greater Hardwick area. The organization seeks a director who will coordinate all aspects of this vital resource and work innovatively to maximize the organization's positive impacts on the local community.

Director's Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure availability of food, including healthy, local options, through acquisitions from VT Food Bank, local producers, donors and retail 
  • Coordinate, train and supervise volunteers, including community service individuals 
  • Facilitate an inclusive, welcoming, accessible environment 
  • Cultivate relationships with clients, vendors, donors and community partners 
  • Work collaboratively with the board of directors to meet program and fundraising goals 
  • Maintain a clean and functional physical space 
  • Design/ implement systems for client service and accountability 
  • Manage budget and record-keeping 
  • Oversee special programs such as holiday baskets, Pies for People, Grow Your Own 
  • Apply for and manage grants

Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills 

  • Thrives in a self-directed role, working well with board members and volunteers 

  • Communicates clearly, effectively, compassionately 

  • Computer literate (knowledge of Quickbooks a plus) 

  • Able to lift 50lbs, regularly 

  • Experience in social services, food systems or related field 

  • Passion, compassion and strong work ethic. 

  • Flexibility, positivity and sense of humor 

  • Valid driver's license
