The purpose of the Coordinator position is to advance the Mission, Memorandum of Understanding and Strategic Plan of the Vermont Agricultural Water Quality Partnership. The Coordinator will undertake and accomplish the following tasks: coordinate the Steering Committee of the Partnership; prepare reports, summaries, agendas, and other materials; keep multiple organizations on track to meet their individual and joint commitments outlined in the strategic plan; and use judgement in navigating complex dynamics related to multi-organization participatory processes. Extensive interaction will occur with representatives of State, Federal and Local government entities, farms, businesses, universities, non-profits, environmental and economic development organizations, and private citizens. The Coordinator may also be asked to represent the work of the VAWQP partnership to the media, Vermont Legislature, and Congressional representatives.

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, or in a field related to agriculture or natural resources is strongly desired. Three to five years at a professional level in a natural resources or agricultural program, preferably in a coordinator role. Proven ability to work with diverse organizations, high level managers and leaders, and drive commitments toward completion. Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing. Ability to exercise considerable tact and diplomacy. Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse groups. Ability to work independently.

Operations experience in developing organizational structures and processes; budgeting and project management; facilitation skills for meetings and workshops; commitment to the principles of applied research and community engagement. Familiarity with Vermont agriculture and environmental agency structures, processes and programs; knowledge of Vermont agricultural context; working knowledge of agricultural and natural resources management, including State of Vermont and Federal clean water regulations and rules related to the reduction of non-point source nutrient loading from agricultural sources.
