This position is the lead instructor for a basic culinary employment-training program for women incarcerated at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility. Primary responsibility is instruction of basic cooking methods and techniques, all aspects of kitchen organization, safety & sanitation, knife skills and reading recipes, applications of basic weights & measures, and culinary terminology. Other key components involve creating a motivating and supportive work environment sensitive to the needs and challenges of incarcerated women. This program will work collaboratively with regular kitchen production at the facility, and with other members of the VWW team. Additional responsibilities include documenting skill gains & progress, providing consistent feedback to students, supporting the emotional and professional growth of participants, reviewing program evaluations to guide improvements, and attending meetings as necessary.
