Examining the Gaps: Product Demand Across Market Channels

The Aggregation & Distribution Working Group meeting was held at the Vermont Farmers Food Center in July. The group focused on the product gaps that distributors, retailers and buyers see when they try to source locally. The panel, Examining the Gaps: Product Demand Across Market Channels included:

  • Jeff Jones, Upper Valley Produce: Large Groceries 
  • Annie Rowell, Sodexo: Colleges 
  • Lauren Kaskey, Health Care Without Harm: Hospitals
  • Erin Roche, UVM Center for Rural Studies: K-12

The group also identified overlap between products and discussed the potential of aligning efforts, refining the data needed, and potential next steps. A challenge is aggregating this data and getting out through the appropriate channels to begin filling these gaps.
