Cai’s Dim Sum Teahouse and Catering, a gateway to southern Vermont in Brattleboro, provides unique authentic dishes with vegetarian wheat-free and gluten-free options and an emphasis on local ingredients (menu online at dimsumvt.com.) It is located on Route 9 one mile west of I-91 Exit 2 in a C.X. Silver Gallery of Fine Art, a unique culinary-arts-culture environment open daily to the public throughout the year by appointment. Visitors dine in an art gallery. With prior notice, orders can also be prepared to go. Cai's Dim Sum caters for small and large groups for all occasions, including weddings, wedding rehearsals, graduation parties, birthdays, anniversaries, workshops, conferences and meetings, film festivals, performances, private dining and other occasions, both on site and traveling to present food and meals in people's homes, and for businesses and organizations. Cai's Dim Sum also has a vending stall at Brattleboro Farmers Market. Chef Cai, originally from Chongqing, China has an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. For her, art and food are intertwined: She explains: "The kitchen is our studio. The dining area is our canvas. We are adding color to the canvas. The diners are the subject. Together, we are creating a joint art piece. Cooking with Memory… a key ingredient." To schedule an appointment, contact Cai's Dim Sum Teahouse and C.X. Silver Gallery at 802-257-7898.
