The Healthy Roots Collaborative (HRC) is a regional food systems program supporting the growers, producers, and consumers in Franklin and Grand Isle County. Healthy Roots provides programs and services for both consumers and producers in the Northwest Corner of Vermont that focus on food education, access and infrastructure. We envision a healthy Northwest Vermont with a community rooted in a strong agricultural economy with thriving farms, where all are connected to and nourished by local farms and food. The Healthy Roots Collaborative was founded by partner organizations who advise the HRC projects and programs. These partner organizations include Northwest Regional Planning Commission, Northwestern Medical Center, Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, South Hero Land Trust, Northwest Family Foods, The Abbey Group and Franklin Grand Isle Workforce Investment Board.

Koi Boynton manages Farm to School and Gleaning for the Northwest Healthy Roots Collaborative. This includes working closely with Farm to School Coordinator, Rachel Huff to build vibrant farm to school programs across Franklin and Grand Isle. Koi also heads up the Healthy Roots Gleaning Program. When she is not working with schools or in the fields gleaning produce, she supports Healthy Roots strategic planning, fundraising and program development. Koi has a rich history of supporting local food systems in Vermont and believes that access to fresh local foods and connections to farms can transform the health and vitality of our communities.
