The Loan Fund has provided flexible financing and business development services for small farms, local food producers and natural resources-based entrepreneurs for 20 years. In 2011, we partnered with The Carrot Project (thecarrotproject.org) to provide in-depth technical assistance tailored to meet the needs of small- and mid-sized farms and agricultural organizations. In 2015, we launched our Food, Farms & Forests Fund to meet the Vermonters' capital needs around sustainable agriculture, healthy food production and the working landscape.
The money we lend comes from the community: individuals & families, corporations, state & federal governments, foundations, financial institutions, faith-based groups and others who want to align their investments with their values, earning them a social or "community" return as well as a financial return.
