The Farm at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps Launches New Gap Year Program!

The VYCC is excited to announce the creation of a new agricultural leadership program for highly motivated young adults (ages 17-21) seeking to live, work, and learn on the Farm at VYCC.

This 20-week residential gap experience (July – November) on the VYCC’s 400-acre campus is perfect for young adults interested in a meaningful immersion experience designed to build community and expand access to farm-fresh food.

Guided by energetic leaders, participants will pursue an array of projects, adventures, and challenges that forge strong connections to our community and our food system. They will have the opportunity of a lifetime to experience the beauty of a Vermont growing season, while learning to grow and deliver farm fresh vegetables and poultry to food-insecure families around the state.

In addition to this important community service project, this program also provides an incredible “Vermont Experience”.  Participants will engage with this beautiful state through weekly excursions: hiking, biking, fishing, visiting other farms in our region, and attending community festivals throughout their stay. Participants will make lifelong friendships, develop important skills in a variety of areas, and build a strong foundation for a college career. Please note, this is a tuition-based program, and limited scholarships are available.
