Addison County Green Energy Business Grants

Middlebury, VT – The Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) is pleased to announce that it will award 5 grants of $500 each for green energy projects to Addison County businesses. Winning businesses must make a minimum 1:1 matching contribution to the project. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2015.

Eligibility requirements for the applicants include: the business must be located in Addison County, the applicant must be in compliance with state regulations, be registered with the VT Secretary of State, and be in good standing.

Application scoring will be based on the quality and readiness of the proposal and concept, the green energy impact, the demonstrated need, and the leveraging of funds.

“We are excited to offer this small grant program to Addison County businesses,” said Robin Scheu, Executive Director of ACEDC. “We wanted to make the program as flexible as possible and let our businesses be creative about how they might use the grant funds.” Examples of possible green energy projects could be: installing an electric car charger to attract customers, providing discounts on bus passes for commuting employees or gas cards for employees to carpool, upgrading shop machinery, investing in more efficient lighting/insulation/windows, or purchasing gear for bicycle-commuting employees.

Winning applicants must agree to have ACEDC promote their green energy projects, provide photos of their projects, and attend the awards presentation at ACEDC’s Annual Meeting in Middlebury on December 4, 2015.

Applicants are encouraged to be imaginative. Winning applications will demonstrate impact.Membership with ACEDC is not required to apply or to win. Applicants must provide a cash match equal to at least 100% of the grant ($500).
