The Working Lands Enterprise Board (WLEB) is pleased to announce the availability of over $500,000 in grant funds for the 2016 program year. The application period will open on October 1, 2016, with grants targeting essential, catalytic investments in Vermont’s farm and forest economy. Grants will be available to Vermont agriculture and forest sector businesses, as well as service providers that provide the critical technical assistance needed for business growth.

Salvation Farms Welcomes Full-Time Volunteers

Karissa Smith and Julia Scheier's year-long positions are funded by Vermont Youth Tomorrow's AmeriCorps VISTA Program. Vermont Cheesemakers Win at American Cheese Society Competition
A record number of Vermont Cheese Council members won top awards at the 2015 American Cheese Society Competition in Providence, RI. Twenty-seven cheesemakers competed, with 20 cheesemakers placing the Best in Class in 44 different categories. Jasper Hill Farm place third in Best in Show for its soft ripened "Harbison."

The Food and Farm Initiative of the Vermont Community Foundation Awards More Than $500,000 in Grants to Connect More Vermonters with Healthy, Local Food
The Food and Farm Initiative of the Vermont Community Foundation has awarded 12 grants totaling more than $500,000 to continue its support of local and statewide efforts to help connect Vermont families of all incomes with local food. Since its launch in 2012, the initiative has awarded more than $1.6 million in grants to organizations striving to solve food insecurity in Vermont while strengthening the state’s local food system. The level of grantmaking in this most recent round was made possible thanks to the partnership of over 30 donors including 16 Foundation fundholders and the High Meadows Fund, which is a part of the Community Foundation.
