State Releases Map of Food Businesses and Food Rescue, Recycling, & Composting Sites
ANR announces the launch of its web-based “Universal Recycling Materials Management Map” (Materials Management Map). Following the passage of the Universal Recycling law in 2012, ensuring consistent recycling, food scrap, and waste services statewide by 2020, the map connects residents, businesses, and institutions with collection services and food rescue agencies, haulers, and composters with sources of quality food and food scraps. The map will provide the information needed to reduce waste and increase the development of infrastructure and systems to manage food waste for beneficial uses.

City Market, Onion River Co-op Customers Help Donate over $3,100
Burlington, VT - City Market recently completed a ten day donation campaign held September 5 through September 14 to benefit Hunger Free Vermont’s child nutrition programs. City Market customers had the opportunity to give a suggested donation of one dollar to Hunger Free Vermont and sign a paper “lunch tray” that read “I Fed a Child”.

New FSMA Draft Rules Released: 75 Day Public Comment Period underway
The FDA has responded to many of the concerns voiced about the first draft of the FSMA rules. The official set of revisions is to be released on 9-29-14 followed by a 75 day comment period. Attached is a brief summary of some of they key changes, written by Vern Grubinger from UVM Extension.
