Join UVM Extension, UVM’s Soil Health Research and Extension Center (SHREC) team, and Vermont Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) staff for this hands-on training on Conservation Evaluation and Monitoring Activity 216 (CEMA 216) under the USDA NRCS Regenerative Pilot Program. Participating technical assistance providers will learn about the Qualified Individual (QI) role, understand the requirements to qualify as a QI, and gain hands-on experience collecting CEMA 216 soil health samples.

Participants will learn how to:

•            Effectively collect and store soil samples following CEMA 216 requirements

•            Process and prepare soil samples for shipment

•            Complete soil sample shipping and submission documentation

•            Conduct the NRCS In-Field Soil Health Assessment (IFSHA)

•            Use the NRCS Pasture Condition Scoring Guide

•            Interpret soil health test results and discuss findings with farmers

•            Understand the requirements of the Qualified Individual (QI) role

•            Follow CEMA 216 reporting procedures
