September 10-12 at Vermont State University, Randolph Campus
Join this immersive three-day academy designed for Conservation District staff, NRCS employees, Technical Service Providers, Extension personnel, consultants, and other agricultural professionals. Participants will receive hands-on training in NRCS CEMA 216 Soil Health Testing through classroom instruction, field assessment, laboratory analysis, and conservation planning.
Working alongside instructors and partners from White River NRCD, LandWEB, USDA-NRCS, and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture Laboratory, participants will learn the complete CEMA 216 workflow—from site assessment and soil sampling to laboratory interpretation, reporting, and monitoring recommendations. The academy also explores environmental biophysics, landscape hydrology, root-zone assessment, and long-term soil health monitoring to build a deeper understanding of how soils function and support resilient agricultural systems.
Cost: $250 per person. Room and board are included. VSAC Advancement Grants and AmeriCorps Segal Education Awards are accepted for eligible participants.
