Description

UVM Extension Center for Sustainable Agriculture is seeking a motivated and qualified individual to serve as an Agronomy Specialist in the Connecticut River Valley of Vermont and be located in the Extension St. Johnsbury’s Office.

This person would lead agronomy outreach and technical assistance work in the eastern portion of the state. They would conduct an integrated and comprehensive educational and outreach assistance program in the areas of farm management, agronomic field crop production, and natural resource conservation practices to improve farm viability and surface water quality. 

Major responsibilities include developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating outreach education and technical assistance programs provided to the local farming community in livestock, crop, soil, manure, nutrient management, and implementation of approved Best Management Practices to reduce soil and nutrient losses into waters of the state. 

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to agriculture; 2 – 4 years of experience in developing outreach education and providing technical assistance in agricultural contexts or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Certified Crop Advisor status desired.

Anticipated Pay Range: $52,000 to $62,000
