Support the distribution of 20,000-50,000 pounds of produce by mobilizing volunteers, harvesting surplus crops, building new farm relationships, connecting with food shelves and meal programs, and so much more! The position is critical in ensuring farmers and families have the support they need in donating or accessing gleaned food! Build a more robust food system by ensuring gleaned food is planned for before and after catastrophic natural disasters like major flood events.
Feeding Champlain Valley, a program of Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, strives to increase access to nourishing food, provide more variety in our food offerings, and cultivate a more inclusive environment for everyone living in the Champlain Valley region. We foster connections and partnerships with agricultural organizations, clinicians, sister non-profits, housing organizations, and schools.
The Gleaning and Food Access Coordinator will:
- Coordinate Chittenden County gleaning program operations
- Communicate with farms and community partners/food access sites
- Organize gleaning schedules in collaboration with the Intervale gleaning program
- Recruit, train, and engage volunteers for gleaning activities
Position is Full Time (1720 hours) and starts on January 13, 2026. Position ends December 11, 2026. Service will take place primarily in Chittenden County, with occasional travel to Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. The position involves a mix of outdoor gleaning activities as well as indoor office service.
