POSITION SUMMARY
The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE), based in Hardwick, VT, seeks a temporary Recipe for Human Connection Class Co-Facilitator. This is a temporary role August 20, 2026 - mid January 2027 of 9-12 hours a week. Recipe for Human Connection (RFHC) is one of CAE’s place-based education collaborations with Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU). RFHC began in 2020 and has now been a beloved and embedded class at Hazen Union for the last six years. Class activities are facilitated by a team of Hazen staff and community partners, and are co-designed with students to explore how food helps us connect to ourselves, each other and to the wider community. Based out of the Hazen classroom kitchen space, the underlying goal of the program is to explore how food helps us connect, and to create a space for teenagers to experience community through the creative process of cooking and sharing food. Joy, youth voice, relationships, and a culture of care and belonging are foundational values for this work. The RFHC co-facilitator works with middle and high school students, administration, teachers, staff, students and volunteers, as well as some local partners at Hazen, and with colleagues at CAE, most closely with the Community Connections Team. 

JOB DETAILS 
Position: Recipe for Human Connection Class Co-Facilitator
Reports to: Human Advocacy Director
Schedule: 9-12 per week, 3 days per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), two 45 minute classes per day at Hazen, plus prep and cleanup time. Classes meet 11:27 am - 12:11pm, and 1:03 - 1:47 pm. One six-hour day per month on the third Thursday at the community lunch. One to two hours per week of time in meetings at CAE. 
Compensation: $24-25 hourly rate, non-exempt

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

• Enthusiasm for working in a public school setting with teenagers 
• Work experience in education, classroom teaching, youth programs, farm to school, or related field
• Experience with youth leadership development, youth-adult partnerships, and fostering youth voice
• Sense of humor! (so important working with kids)
• Values relationship-building, community, and experiential learning
• Respectful, inclusive approach with diverse groups
• Thrives in collaborative contexts
• Experience with or interest in shared leadership, emergent work plans, and community-centered, relational work
• Experience with food and cooking, and attentive to food safety
• Confidence planning and leading cooking activities with youth
• Commitment to professionalism in partnering with school system
• Familiarity with school and school system structures and dynamics, particularly in rural settings. 
• Experience with handling sensitive information with discretion
• Hiring is contingent on passing OSSU’s level 2 background check 
• Ability to travel to grocery shop or pick up donations is a plus.
