Description

The Intervale Center seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Development Coordinator to join our team in Burlington, Vermont. For over 35 years, the Intervale Center has led a community food system revolution that sustains farms, land, and people. We have pioneered farm and food innovations in local food development, commercial composting, riparian restoration, farm business incubation, gleaning, and food hub development.

The Development Coordinator is a member of the Intervale Center’s development team, providing administrative and coordination support across donor relations, fundraising, business partnerships, events, and communications. The Development Coordinator helps keep development systems, processes, and activities organized, accurate, timely, and responsive. Responsibilities include processing donations, maintaining our donor database, coordinating fundraising appeals, organizing group volunteer opportunities, supporting events, pulling routine monthly development financial reports, and assisting with other development activities as needed.

The Development Coordinator reports to the Donor Relations Manager and works closely with the Development Director and other members of the development and communications teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Process donations and maintain development systems, including Little Green Light and Donorbox. Produce acknowledgment letters and maintain accurate donor records and files.
  • Support the planning and execution of organizational fundraising campaigns and appeals, including maintaining timelines, preparing materials, coordinating logistics, deploying communications, and tracking results.
  • Coordinate group volunteer opportunities, including scheduling, communications, logistics, welcomes, and follow-up with participating businesses and staff.
  • Pull and maintain monthly development financial reports including tracking expenses and fundraising income. Reconcile fundraising income and expenses with the Finance team monthly and support the annual audit.
  • Support the implementation of fundraising plans and strategies developed by the Development Director and Donor Relations Manager, including donor stewardship, prospecting, business partnerships, and other development activities.
  • Support fundraising, community, and business events, including invitations, communications, logistics, materials, and day-of event execution. Represent the Intervale Center at community and benefit events as needed.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications staff to develop and deploy fundraising and donor communications.
  • Support the Board of Directors Development Committee, including meeting coordination, preparation of materials, follow-up, and tracking of activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for development activities, including donor follow-up, business partnerships, campaigns, events, and other assigned projects.
  • Participate in staff meetings, retreats, events, and organizational planning, and contribute to the Center’s strategic planning and anti-racism work.
  • Provide additional administrative and coordination support to the development team as needed.

     

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience in nonprofit development, administration, or a related position. Includes internships and academic experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with common computer applications, and willingness to learn and maintain databases and online systems. Experience with Little Green Light or a comparable CRM is helpful but not required.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, financial records, and routine data entry.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, follow established processes, and reliably complete work.
  • Warm, professional, and responsive approach to working with donors, business partners, volunteers, colleagues, and community members.
  • A passion for the Intervale Center’s mission and community food systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is $25.00-$27.00 per hour with an excellent benefits package (health, dental, vision & life insurance, 401(k) with match), CTO, sick time, and other limited wellness benefits. 

This is an in-person position based in Burlington, Vermont with occasional remote work possible.
