To help lead this important work, Vermont Foodbank seeks a strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven leader to serve as our next Director of Equity, People & Culture (EPeC) and Administration.
About the Opportunity
This is more than an HR leadership role it is an opportunity to help shape the future of one of Vermont's most respected and impactful nonprofit organizations.
Reporting to the Chief Equity, People & Culture Officer and partnering closely with executive leadership, the Director of EPeC and Administration will play a key role in advancing Vermont Foodbank's strategic vision by strengthening organizational culture, supporting employee development, enhancing internal communication, and building systems that allow staff and programs to thrive.
As Vermont Foodbank continues to evolve, this leader will help create an employee experience grounded in equity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning while ensuring the operational excellence necessary to support our statewide mission.
What You’ll Do
- Lead HR and administrative operations across the organization
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll/timekeeping, benefits administration, performance management, and professional development initiatives
- Strengthen internal systems, workflows, and organizational communication practices
- Support leadership and the Board of Directors with governance coordination, operational planning, and administrative excellence
- Help advance learning, leadership development, and equitable workplace practices aligned with the Foodbank’s strategic priorities
- Foster a collaborative, people-centered culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
- Supervise and mentor EPeC and administrative team members
- Partner cross-functionally to support organizational growth, systems evolution, and strategic change initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in human resources, business, organizational leadership, public administration, or a related field
- Progressive leadership experience in HR, administration, operations, or related areas
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, compliance, organizational systems, and people leadership
- Experience improving processes, managing multiple priorities, and leading through change
- Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, professionalism, and service-oriented leadership
- Experience building collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders
Nonprofit experience including non-profit governance preferred
