Description

Vermont Farmers Food Center in Rutland seeks a 2026 Local Food Coordinator for a Quarter Time Americorps Service position to help with our Farmacy: Food Is Medicine Program!  Join a team of folks dedicated to increasing markets and local food access for our Rutland area farms and working with our local clinics on our Farmacy program.

 As a member at Vermont Farmers Food Center, you’ll work closely with VFFC's Program Director to support food access, community health, and education initiatives. You will attend local meetings with healthcare providers, farmers, and partners focused on food justice and preventative health. With staff and volunteers, you’ll help implement evaluation tools, coordinate volunteers, and support produce distribution through food access and bulk purchasing programs. Key duties include driving produce, bagging food with community volunteers, and assisting with Farmacy: Food Is Medicine program enrollment. You’ll also help plan and deliver farm-based education programs, create newsletters with nutrition and recipe content, and assist with food demos and art activities on pick-up days. Additional tasks may include follow-up with participants, supporting drop-offs, and contributing to community events. 

Start date and end dates are flexible, with the bulk of the program happening June-mid October. This is a quarter time position, 450 hours total for the season, paid, and there is housing available off site. Service member must have personal use of vehicle to get to our Rutland based site.
