Farm To School And Early Childhood: Child Nutrition Grants

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture is now accepting applications for two grant opportunities designed to support farm to school activities at Vermont schools and early childcare organizations. The first, the Farm to School Child Nutrition Grant, is open to schools and licensed early childcare providers who are interested in establishing or expanding a farm to school program. Grantees will receive $15,000 in financial support as well as a suite of customized technical assistance and professional development from a team of farm to school experts. More information about this two-year grant, including how to apply, is available on the Agency of Agriculture’s website here. Applications are due by November 21st at noon.

The second grant opportunity provides schools and early care providers with $1,000 in funding to purchase infrastructure that will improve their food programs and help further the goals of farm to school. These goals include procuring local food, improving child nutrition and increasing agricultural literacy. More information about the infrastructure grants program is available here. Applications for this grant are due by December 3rd at noon.
