Savor the Flavors of the Valley with Vital Communities

March 8, 2018 – White River Junction, Vt. – Want to expand your palette of local foods this year? Come meet and eat at Flavors of the Valley, the Upper Valley’s premier local food tasting event. Organized for the past 17 years by the regional nonprofit Vital Communities, Flavors of the Valley offers visitors the chance to sample treats from more than 45 local vendors—enjoy fresh produce, artisan bread, award-winning cheeses, tasty jams, hand-crafted sweets, and more. Consumers can connect with local producers, visit with neighbors, and buy some local goodies to take home.
This year’s Flavors of the Valley will be held Sunday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hartford High School in White River Junction. Tickets are $12 per person with a family maximum cost of $35; children ages six and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discount by visiting VitalCommunities.org/Flavors. In addition to dozens of delicious local food samples, Vital Communities will offer kids’ activities, short bike workshops, and more at the zero-waste event.
“We know spring is just around the corner when we start registering vendors for Flavors of the Valley,” says Nancy LaRowe, Valley Food & Farm Coordinator at Vital Communities. “Meeting local farmers and food producers, chatting with neighbors, and tasting the amazing range of locally grown and crafted foods we’re so fortunate to enjoy in the Upper Valley—that’s what Flavors is about, and it’s a warm and wonderful way to welcome the spring. It’s also an important opportunity for our vendors, who build new relationships that help sustain their work and keep agriculture a vital part of life in our region.”
