The Vermont Farm Show is Growing!
BIG NEWS!!! The Vermont Farm Show has hired its first ever Director.
The Vermont Farm Show is building a new organization, changing its federal tax-status, growing its Board of Directors, and marching toward the return of a renewed farm show in 2027. The organization has a new mission, vision, and purpose; it will not only hold its beloved annual show, but is developing year-round educational offerings to strengthen Vermont’s farms and working landscape.
To meet its aspirations, the Vermont Farm Show’s Board of Directors knew it would need some solid help, outside of the capacity of its volunteer members and partner organization. In November of last year, the organization launched a hiring process to fill the organization’s first ever staff position. In late January the offer was made and Kim Stinson of Northfield accepted the invitation to serve as the Vermont Farm Show’s Director.
Kim has been in this role since mid-February and hit the ground running. “She brings the right amount of experience matched by the right amount of enthusiasm. It was an invigorating process, the people who care about agriculture and livelihoods dependent on the land are often as skilled as they are passionate. Kim’s diverse nonprofit experience, overseeing day to day operations, creating and implementing programs, fundraising, financial management, and having nonprofit board experience signaled to us that she was the candidate to help us build the new Vermont Farm Show” says Theresa Snow, Vermont Farm Show Board President.
"I am eager to work with the Vermont Farm Show team to launch a re-visioned show in 2027, and to support sustainable agriculture across sectors throughout Vermont. With a goal of connecting Vermont producers with consumers, while fostering opportunities for people to identify their own unique relationship with agriculture in Vermont I hope to play a role in supporting a stronger Vermont where people support people."
Kim, who grew up in New Hampshire and received an Environmental Science degree from Johnson State College, comes to the Vermont Farm Show with a rich background of outdoor related employment. Growing out of her own passions for outdoor recreation she has engaged in equestrian sports, skiing, and mountain biking. Kim has served in nonprofit roles related to Alaska-based search and rescue dog handling to leadership roles in Vermont’s mountain bike association network. Kim values rural lifestyles, engaged parenting, home-based food production, and community service.
