Yoder Farm

We are intentionally growing some crops with an eye toward expanding the calorie options available in the local diet. This includes staples such as popcorn, ten kinds of dry beans, and perennial crops such as un-sprayed processing apples and berries. To further this goal we are trying some new crop rotations, creating a management system to grow chemical free apples, and building up the processing capacity to transform the apples into products like vinegar, apple butter, and sweet cider. Our tenancy at Smokey House Center, and organization committed to conservation, agriculture and education, also means that we get to participate in some of the youth education programming and share the fun with high school kids from local communities.
