As farmland prices continue to rise and more Vermont farmers approach retirement without identified successors, new and beginning farmers are exploring alternative ways to access and steward agricultural land.
This new report from the Intervale Center, funded by Farm to Plate, examines three collaborative and community-based land access models in Vermont, highlighting their benefits, challenges, and lessons learned. The report also offers recommendations for farmers, landowners, lenders, and policymakers interested in expanding long-term, affordable farmland access and supporting the next generation of farmers.
