ACORN Producers and Buyers Forum: Conversations Across the Local Food Spectrum
ACORN hosted its 2nd annual Producer Buyer Forum, a unique event cultivating deep conversations among all supply chain partners. Keynote by Greg Georgaklis, of Farmers to You, tied together new products, new markets, retail trends, pricing, distribution variables, and uncertainties in regional food. Created with primary focus for peer-to-peer connecting on present pressures and future opportunities from artisan hops, grass fed beef, hemp and CBD products to business efficiency, made for a hugely success event. Rural Vermont Debuted New Video & Honored Migrant Justice at Annual Meeting
In the midst of torrential downpours on an evening in late October, 60+ hearty Rural Vermont members and friends gathered at the Tunbridge Town Hall for Rural Vermont’s Annual Meeting & Celebration. They shared a meal, thanked our outgoing Board members for their years of service and elected six new members to the Board of Directors, honored Migrant Justice with the Jack Starr award, bore witness to the debut of Rural Vermont’s “Digging In” video, and engaged in lively dialogue about everything from budgets to regional chapters to policy. Vermont Agency of Agriculture Announces Produce Safety Grant Opportunity
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is pleased to announce the first round of a two-round grant opportunity to improve on-farm produce safety. Approximately $74,000 in funding will be available in each round. This grant is to assist Vermont produce growers to make improvements that help prevent or reduce known produce safety risks on their farms. Read More

Cabot Creamery Co-operative is supporting Salvation Farms’ engagement of a University of Vermont Sustainable Entrepreneurship MBA (SEMBA) graduate, Diane Abruzzini. Diane will aid the nonprofit in the revision and expansion of their business plan for the Vermont Commodity Program. The Vermont Commodity Program operates Vermont’s first surplus-crop food hub in Winooski through a workforce development program. The food hub cleans, quality assesses, processes, and packs surplus crops. Read More
